I had a discussion with Mr. Bolosh (Minister of Finance No. He listened to us, but the echoes are the same. Everyone complains, all industries come and talk about their moves and try to get their benefits, while the big budget suffers dramatically and they are in a position of choice between two ashes, said Celin Ile, honorary president of the Federation of Hotel Industry from Romania – FIHR.
Two evils:
1. To be able to implement the budget only in the conditions of this deficit, which blocks the sources of its financing from the PNRR and the European Commission.
2. Adjust taxation in certain sectors, such as tourism, IT, construction, agriculture, excise taxes. “It’s that long list you’ve all seen.”
“I wouldn’t want it to be a battle where the sectors that are louder, more influential, win and don’t win arguments,” Ile told the CLCC conference.
- “We listen to the opinion of the government, which found itself in a difficult situation, but when we signaled over time that this policy would be difficult, we were not heard.”
They told Marcel Bolosh that tourism is an industry at risk in terms of tax evasion.
“Any increase in taxation will bring even greater danger and must be taken into account. There is a risk that a significant part of the industry will migrate not to the black, but to the gray for sure,” Kelin Ile also noted.
- “We are convinced that the increase in taxation will be reflected in prices. The question is how much more the consumer can take.”
“Can we pay off another tax increase because of the prices we’re charging? A possible increase in tariffs will limit consumption. How much is hard to say. I presented these arguments to the Minister of Finance. We don’t know what the consequences will be. This is still being discussed in the Coalition,” the honorary president of the Hotel Industry Federation from Romania also noted.
