Shuai Zhang broke down in tears and withdrew from her WTA Budapest match with Amarisa Kiara Toth after the Hungarian kicked the ball following a controversial umpire’s decision.

Amarissa Toth Hated by WTA Colleagues: ‘Absolutely Disgusting Behavior’

Already upset after an argument with the chair umpire, Shuai (favourite 2) conceded when Toth cleared the mark with her foot and did not want to continue the match. The audience booed the Chinese woman, and Amarissa celebrated by raising her arms.

Toth (548 WTA, wildcard recipient) said Zhang (45 WTA) overreacted to a situation that had “happened thousands of times” in tennis.

“Honestly, I think it’s her fault, she was looking for it. I didn’t understand why she was making such a fuss in a situation where she just wanted to overturn the arbitrator’s decision in her favor. I don’t understand why he didn’t accept it. She created her own problems. There are thousands of such cases” – Amarissa Toth for Radio Kossuth.

Zhang thanked those who took her side on social networks, and colleagues from the WTA expressed disgust at the gesture of the athlete from Hungary (from Bangkok, Thailand).
