In the junior team of Romania, the athlete made his debut at the age of 15, performing at the European Championship among juniors under 17 years of age.
Extrema is the son of Cristi Chitsigoi, a former player of the Romanian national team, and the grandson of the late Constantin Chitsigoi, also a former international player.
