The FRF increases the number of teams in the second league
At the end of the meeting, FRF President Rezvan Burleanu announced an increase in the number of teams in League 2 from 20 to 22.
However, the event will not be in effect in the upcoming season, but only in 2024-2025.
“One of the most important decisions concerns the next seasons in Ligue 2. We have seen financial stability and interest from clubs in Ligue 2.
We agreed to increase the number of teams from 20 to 22 teams. We will have a regular championship with 21 matches, the playoff and playout system will be preserved. Six teams will enter the playoffs, 16 teams will enter the playoffs, divided into two groups of eight.
We are talking about increasing the number of games and we can say that we are getting closer to the number of teams in the championships that we want to compete with,” Rezvan Burleanu announced, according to DigiSport.
