Ferhat Gürüz, president of the Association of Exporters of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables from the Mediterranean Region, said that from January to June, fresh fruits and vegetables worth 1.69 billion dollars were exported from Turkey, the Turkish press writes.

Providing information on Turkey’s exports for the first half of the year, Gürüz said: “Turkey’s exports of fresh fruits and vegetables reached $1.69 billion in the first half of 2023, an increase of 17 percent.

The Association of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters from the Mediterranean region contributed 46% to this indicator.

In the first six months, 2.27 million tons of products were used on international markets, Gyurez said, adding:

“The most exported products of our industry were tomatoes, tangerines and peppers. During this period, we exported tomatoes worth 326 million dollars, which is 32% more; tangerines at $228.4 million, up 35%; and pepper at $180.2 million, up 51 percent. The largest export markets for our fruits and vegetables were Russia, Romania and Germany. We exported 498.2 million dollars to Russia, an increase of 10%; in Romania, 180 million dollars. with an increase of 42%; and to Germany in the amount of 156.6 million dollars, increasing by 26%”.
