The new car market grew by 25% in the first half of the year to more than 72,000 units, with Dacia being the top five in demand, followed by Skoda and Renault. APIA data also shows that electric vehicles have reached new records.

June was very successful for the car market: 13,000 new cars, of which 3,800 were Dacia and more than 1,000 Toyota, Skoda and Volkswagen.

In six months, the Dacia brand is the undisputed leader, having sold almost 25,000 cars, of which 7,700 Logan, 5,800 Duster, 5,400 Sandero, 3,200 Spring and more than 2,300 Jogger cars.

Renault was in second place with more than 5,400 cars, of which 1,800 Megane and 1,600 Clio.

Skoda was in the top three out of 5,000 cars, more than a third of which are Octavia. Fourth was Toyota, a brand where almost a quarter of the cars were Corollas.

The Hyundai brand was in fifth place with almost 4,800 cars, the most popular model is the Tucson with 30% of the total.

Volkswagen, Ford, BMW, Suzuki and Mercedes-Benz rounded out the top ten brands. In the top 10, only one brand decreased compared to the first half of last year, Ford, -26%. Suzuki rose in price the most – 112%, and Renault – 78%.

SUVs occupied 42% of the market in the first half of the year, and C-class cars – 30%. By types of fuel, gasoline accounts for 64.9%, diesel fuel for 13.2%.

Fully electric cars covered almost a tenth of the market, almost 7,000 cars, of which 3,266 Dacia Spring, 1,105 Tesla, 762 Volkswagen and 566 Renault.
