Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu inspected the troops and supervised the training of newly formed units of servicemen under contract, the department said on Saturday, which published an image of a Russian official, one of the main enemies, on the Telegram account. Yevgeny Prigozhin, the Russian oligarch who last month tried with Wagner’s mercenaries to rebel against the Russian military leadership and oust Shoigu, according to Reuters.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense posted footage on its Telegram channel showing Shoigu in his khaki military uniform inspecting soldiers at the training ground, his first public appearance with the troops since Prigozhin’s one-day uprising.
The ministry did not specify when the video was taken and when the inspection took place.

“The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation personally checked the training of servicemen who have a contract to conduct combat operations in various conditions, including urban combat,” the Ministry of Defense reported on Saturday.
On Monday, Shoigu said that Prigozhin’s rebellion did not affect Russia’s “special operations” in Ukraine.
Prigozhin’s fighters seized the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, apparently with the support of Russian army generals, and marched on Moscow on June 24 as their leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, called for the release of Shoigu and the chief of the General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, whom he blames for the failure of the war in Ukraine.
Prigozhin’s displeasure was caused by the order that his private company had to enter into a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
The crisis was defused when Belarusian leader Oleksandr Lukashenko reached an agreement between the Kremlin and Prigozhin. (news.ro)
