Literally a few hours after the launch of the new Threads social network, Elon Musk’s lawyers informed Mark Zuckerberg that they will sue Meta for copying Twitter, reports news.ro.
The dispute between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg could go to court in addition to the fighting ring after Meta on Thursday launched a new social network called Threads, which almost completely copies Twitter.
Hours after Meta launched Threads, Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s chief executive, received a letter from Twitter lawyers accusing him of systematically recruiting ex-Twitter employees to learn its trade secrets.
“Twitter intends to protect its intellectual property rights and asks Meta to take immediate action to stop using Twitter’s trade secrets or other confidential information,” the letter said.
In short, Elon Musk’s company accuses Meta of recruiting some of its laid-off employees and using them to copy Twitter’s work, thereby launching Threads.
A representative of Meta responded to the US press that the allegations are baseless and that no former Twitter employee is part of the engineering team working on Threads.
Just 16 hours after its launch, the social network Threads already exceeded 30 million users, although it is not yet available in the European Union. It is already number one in the app stores in the countries where it was launched.
