At just 16 years old, Mirra Andreeva continues to make waves this season: the Russian reached the third round of Wimbledon, beating Barbora Krejcikova (Roland Garros 2021 champion).

Mirra Andreeva, in the third round of Wimbledon – was eliminated by Barbora Krejcikova

Ranked 102nd in the WTA rankings, Mirra beat three players in qualifying and also defeated Xia Wang in the opening round.

In the second round, Andreeva met with Krejcikova, but the tenth favorite of the competition at the All England Club lasted only 55 minutes.

After a balanced start to the match (3-3), Mirra took advantage of Barbora’s pain and broke away. With a score of 6-3, 4-0 against the Russian, the athlete from the Czech Republic retired.

  • In the next round, Mirra Andreeva will meet the winner of the match between Anastasia Potapova (22nd favorite) and Kaya Juvan (244 WTA).
  • At Roland Garros, Mirra stopped in the third round: 7-6(5), 1-6, 1-6 against Coco Gauff.

Who is Mirra Andreeva?

She is 16 years old, she is the youngest girl in the family (she has three more sisters). Sister Erika (18 years old) is ranked 149th in the world.

Raisa’s mother watched the Australian Open while pregnant with Erica (one of the older sisters) and passed on her love of tennis to the girls.
