Coco Gauff was eliminated in the first round of Wimbledon

Sofia Kenin advanced to the second round of Wimbledon.

Entering the main draw from the qualifiers, the player ranked 128 in the WTA hierarchy eliminated Coco Gauff (7 WTA), one of the big favorites of this year’s edition, in the first round.

The 2020 Australian Open champion performed very well against compatriot Coco Gauff and won the first set with a score of 6-4.

Last year’s Roland Garros finalist responded in kind and won the second set by the same scoreline to advance to the decider.

The former WTA No. 4 won there, taking two hours and five minutes to advance to the second round.

In the second round, Sofia Kenin will play against China’s Xinya Wang (73 WTA).
