A company from Hong Kong has begun human testing of the first-ever drug created solely with the help of artificial intelligence.
Insilico Medicine, a Hong Kong-based biotech startup, has created the first drug to be researched solely with the help of artificial intelligence.
The drug is called INS018_055 and is used to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a form of chronic lung disease.
“This is the first drug created entirely by generative artificial intelligence to reach Phase II human clinical trials,” says Alex Zhavoronkov, founder and CEO of Insilico Medicine.
The research process began in 2020 to find a cure for a disease for which there were only drugs that could only slow the progression of the disease.
The first stage of testing takes place in China for 12 weeks. They will then expand to the United States and cover 60 entities from 40 cities.
To date, Insilico Medicine has raised over $400 million in funding. (news.ro)
