Forbes journalists recall that while the long-awaited Ukrainian offensive launched this month appears to be focused on the Zaporizhzhia region in the south of the country, Kyiv forces are also attacking both flanks of the city of Bakhmut, which they lost after 10 months of Russian action. forces threw huge resources into the battle here.

Like the AMX-10 BMP promised to Ukraine by France, the Swedish CV90s are sometimes called “light tanks” because of their gun. In the case of CV90 vehicles, they can be equipped with cannons that fire up to 120 millimeter projectiles, depending on the model selected.

In the case of those donated to Ukraine, they are equipped with a 40mm CV9040C gun that can target a “helicopter hovering at a distance of four kilometers”, according to the Swedish Armed Forces.

The machine weighs 37 tons, has a crew of 3 people and can transport up to 6 soldiers to the front. Its developers have optimized it for mechanized work in the forest areas of Sweden, so it has also become popular among other Nordic countries.

“There are also a lot of trees in Eastern Ukraine, many of them in commercial plantations,” Forbes mentions about why Swedish armored vehicles were sent there.
