The draw for the goal of the new Super League season, which took place on Tuesday at the LPF headquarters, caused discontent among the staff of the University of Cluj, as the football forum did not take into account the club’s request.

The University of Cluj is forced to play home matches with Rapid and Dynamo at another stadium – losses of 150,000 euros

Shortly after the 2023-2024 season program was created, the University of Cluj released a statement accusing the LPF of failing to honor their request.

More specifically, the Cluj Arena stadium will be unavailable at the end of July and the beginning of August due to the festival, and the team will have to play several games away from their own stadium.

“Romanian football remains a toy of a few people”

“The professional football league ignored the request of FC “University of Cluj” to hold the match of the first stage of the new season at “Cluj Arena”.

If the LPF took into account this request, which took into account the fact that the Cluj Arena stadium is occupied by the organizers of the Untold festival at the end of July and the beginning of August, our club would only play one game away from Cluj. – So far, as the host, the match of the 3rd stage.

Since the LPF has decided to ignore the request officially submitted by FC Cluj University, our club will play at least two home games in a stadium other than Cluj Arena: derbies scheduled in stages from no. 2 and 4, with Rapid and Dynamo.

According to the most optimistic scenario, the first match at the Cluj Arena will take place only on the 6th stage, on August 19-20, when the game against the CFR is scheduled. The decision of the Professional League seriously affects our club from a financial point of view, which will lose at least 150 thousand euros from tickets due to the fact that the derby with Rapid and Dynamo will not take place in Cluj-Arena.

We also regret LPF’s decision because it also affects our supporters who will have to travel many hundreds of kilometers to support us.

Today’s decision by the LPF proves once again that Romanian football remains the “toy” of a few people who recommend nothing but the ability to run behind-the-scenes games.

Despite these obstacles, FC “University of Cluj” continues its journey with the resilience that comes from more than 100 years of history, which keeps us moving forward, hoping that we will soon reach “zero moment” when the balance of decisions will not be inclined to intrigues, unclear interests and dirty hands, which wash each other,” says the statement posted on the official website of the University of Cluj.
