As every year, the American analytical company JD Power published the results of its research the quality of the car manufacturer, with a rating of 33 brands according to their reliability. Quality and reliability are indicators for measuring satisfaction, recommendations and loyalty of car owners.
This study analyzed manufacturers’ customer feedback after 90 days of ownership and is therefore intended to be a reflection of brand reputation and consumer satisfaction, even if it remains to be taken with a grain of salt as it is based on more than just user feedback.
The reliability of electric cars was noted
The research is considered no less than 223 tasks on many models on the market, all in different categories such as air conditioning, driver aids, driving experience, electronic features, interior and exterior quality, infotainment or motorization.
With vehicles becoming increasingly complex and using more technology, it’s no surprise to see car reliability in freefall in recent years.
majority young manufacturers of 100% electric cars particularly affected, such as Lucid with a score of 340 PP100 (problems per 100 cars), Polestar with 313 PP100, Rivian with 282 PP100 or Tesla with 257 PP100.
Stellanthis, a good disciple of reliability
The figures are well above the market average, with the same 192 problems per 100 cars. According to the American organization, this rating continues to fall over the years, and this is especially true for modern cars recurring problems and youthful mistakes.
“The automotive industry is facing a wide range of quality issues, a phenomenon unheard of in the 37-year history of IQS”said Frank Hanley, JD Power’s Senior Director of Automotive Benchmarking: “The industry is at a major crossroads, and the path each automaker chooses is most important to its future. From lingering problems of yesteryear to the rise of new types of problems, today’s new vehicles are more complex – offering new and exciting technology – but not always satisfying to owners.”.
On the other side of the ranking, some brands perform better than others, such as the Stellantis group: Dodge is the most reliable brand with 140 PP100, followed by RAM with 141 PP100 or Alfa Romeo with 143 PP100.
