Romania’s runners-up at the end of last season FCSB were seeded in the draw of the 2nd preliminary round of the Conference League and the results of the draw put Bulgarian side ȚSKA 1948 Sofia on their way to the red and blue. Champions of Romania in five of the last six seasons, CFR Cluj will have a difficult task in the 2nd preliminary round of the Conference League against Adana Demirspor, fourth in the Turkish league in the recently concluded season.

CFR Cluj was the first team from Romania to reach the groups of the Conference League in 2021 after back-to-back exits in the previous matches of the Champions League and then the Europa League.

The team from Gruja got into the Conference League groups last season as well, when they even managed to go to the European spring, where they lost to Lazio (1:0 on aggregate).

For the second consecutive year, Sepsi Sf.Gheorghe team won the Betano Cup Romania and will represent Romania in the preliminary tournaments of the Conference League.

Kovasnen made his debut in the European Cups last season, when he managed to pass the round, and then was eliminated from the Swedish team “Djurgardens” in categorical form.

This time, Sepsi will play against CSKA Sofia, Bulgaria’s most successful team with 31 titles to their credit, the last one won in 2008.
