Gala Civil Society, a project of the Institute that promotes the activities of the non-profit, non-governmental sector in Romania, registered a record number of applications for this year’s competition. We are talking about 238 public initiatives, of which 182 projects, 23 programs and 33 social campaigns were implemented in the period of 2021-2022. In this sense, Bucharest brings the most projects to the competition, followed by the counties of Cluj and Dambovitsa.

Most of the entries come from organizations in Bucharest: 171 projects, the capital is followed by the districts Cluj with 19 projects respectively Dumbovita with 8 projects. The list of applications continues with the counties of Ilfov, Arad, Brasov and Iasi, each of which will submit 5 to 7 projects to the competition. For counties Constanta, Dolj, Sibiu, Vranca, Timis, Vilca, Botosani, Braila, Harghita, Hunedoara, Maramures, Mehedinci, Mures, Prahova, Satu Mare and Suceava 1 to 3 projects are registered.

Out of 238 projects, programs and communication campaigns submitted to the Civil Society Gala 2023 competition, 128 they had National coverage, 61 local, 16 district, 22 region and 20 international.

The most initiatives were registered in the following sections: Education, education, research– 38 projects, Communication campaigns on social topics– 33 campaigns, Good youth – 32 records and for Projects implemented with the involvement of volunteers 29 projects were registered this year. They are followed by sections programmerandHealthwhich also occupy an important place in the competition, each of which participates with 23 projects.

The projects presented at the 21st edition of the Civil Society Gala will be judged by more than 85 project implementation and evaluation specialists, researchers, sociologists, journalists, opinion leaders and leaders of the public and non-profit sector, as well as representatives of the private sector. . Project evaluation is carried out in two stages:

The judging of the 1st stage lasts until July 5, 2023 and supposeassessment and evaluation of projects in each section of categories A, B and C and establishment of hierarchy and winners;

The II stage of judging takes place from July 31 to August 16, 2023 and aims to assess and evaluate the First Prize winning projects from the Category A sections and from the Volunteer Projects section (Category B) to determine the Grand Prix winner of the Civil Society Gala 2023. This phase will also determine the winners Social Impact Awardsdeveloped together with Ashoka Romania, a strategic partner of the Civil Society Gala.

The winners will be announced during the Civil Society Gala Premiere Gala 2023, which will take place at the end of September.
