Retailer Kaufland is preparing an investment of around 300 million euros in Romania this year and wants to open ten stores, said Valer Gancas, Kaufland’s director of communications in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The company recorded an increase in turnover to 3.4 billion euros (March 2022 – February 2023).

According to Hankas, Kaufland Romania currently employs 17,000 people.

“We have 13,942 whole norms. In total, Kaufland Romania employs about 17,000 people. Some work part-time, work for four hours, so if we convert to the whole norms, it comes out to 13,942. Toretich, maybe for ten stores and the rest of the needs, we are going to create 1,000 jobs,” said Valer Hankas, Kaufland’s director of communications in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, as quoted by news.ro.

What are the salaries at Kaufland?

Kaufland is one of the largest private employers in Romania, with more than 16,500 employees.

“The salary scale and benefits package are constantly improving, in 2022 the minimum net salary at Kaufland will exceed the national minimum net salary by almost 60%,” the company reports.

Through its activities, the company creates around 91,000 full-time jobs in Romania, directly, indirectly and induced, equivalent to approximately 1.7% of the national workforce.

Kaufland is one of the largest retail companies in Europe with 1,500 stores in 8 countries, 148,000 employees and a network that currently includes 168 stores in Romania.
