After Disney+, HBO Max and Netflix, it’s the Amazon-owned streaming service’s turn to consider selling an ad-supported version.

Amazon executives have begun discussing the launch of an ad-supported version of its Prime Video streaming service. According to The Wall Street Journal, the discussion is early, so few details were known about the company’s plans in this regard.

Getting an ad-supported plan on Amazon Prime Video is a little more difficult than the competition because of the way the service is sold. In addition to an individual subscription, it is also available as part of a suite of services offered to Prime members.

One common version is to add commercials to Prime Video with the option of paying extra to remove the commercials.

This option will also increase the price of the current service. Most streaming companies have taken advantage of releasing ad-supported versions to make ad-free versions more expensive.

Amazon Prime Video is one of the most affordable streaming services out there right now. In Romania, the subscription costs 14 lei per month, which is significantly lower than the 12 euros plus 3 euros for each user who lives at a different address than in the case of Netflix. (News.ro)
