Sweden denies recognizing sex as a sport
Swedish Sports Confederation spokeswoman Anna Setzman told DW that “all these claims are false.”
“Currently, some international media are spreading false information about Sweden and Swedish sports,” she added. “This is strongly denied.”
How did it all begin?
Göteborgs-Posten, one of the main daily newspapers in Swedish, reported that a Swede named Dragan Bratic was behind the whole story.
According to the newspaper, Bratic owns several strip clubs and wanted sex to be classified as a sport. He applied for membership in the confederation in January of this year.
The Swedish Sports Confederation confirmed to DW that there is a person who claimed to have a sexual federation and applied for membership, but the application was rejected in May.
“The Swedish Sports Confederation has drawn attention to the fact that some international media are currently reporting that a sex federation has become a member of the Swedish Sports Confederation,” Setzman said in a statement. “This is false information with the aim of defaming Swedish sports and Sweden.”
