The Russian Freedom Legion, which recently invaded Russian territory from Ukraine, said on Saturday that Moscow’s military had bombed its own population.

“Putin’s army continues its chaotic bombing of the Belgorod region. In an attempt to somehow strike our forces, the enemy is firing on populated areas, without taking into account the casualties among the civilian population,” the group’s Twitter page says.

“Already today, artillery strikes were carried out on the settlements of Shebekino, Nova Tavolzhanka, Murom and others…” – adds the quoted source.

The Russian Freedom Legion is a Russian group based in Ukraine, led by Russian opposition figure Ilya Ponomarev, who says he is working inside the Federation to topple the Putin regime.

The organization said on Saturday that all residents of the area who want to flee the bombings can use the “humanitarian corridor” to seek refuge in Ukraine.

“Taking into account the threat to civilians, we agreed with the Ukrainian command on the opening of humanitarian corridors for the residents of Belgorod, who are suffering from shelling by the regime army. All those who need help can be evacuated within Ukraine with their voluntary consent to provide shelter and all necessary basic needs,” the message reads.

Russia’s Freedom Legion said Friday it was fighting Russian troops on the outskirts of a village on Russia’s western border, a day after Moscow said it had repelled three cross-border attacks.

“Active fighting is taking place on the outskirts of the village of Nova Tavolzhanka (Belhorod Region). Unfortunately, there are wounded legionnaires, but freedom is won with blood,” the Russian Legion of Freedom said in a statement on Friday.
