What should 300,000 students who are preparing for external examinations and bachelor’s degrees know, given that teachers do not want to end the strike? The leader of the pre-university education union “Muntenia” from Argesh, Adrian Vojka, says that parents’ associations should put pressure on the government every day and ask “how much more they are going to abuse children”.
On Friday at Prima News, Adrian Voika was asked what the 300,000 students preparing for national assessments and the BA should know.
- “Both students and parents should ask the Government every day, and the question will be: “How much are you going to humiliate us and the teachers?”.
- The strike is a legitimate right, it was initiated after decades of humiliation in which social injustice, repeated ignoring of problems in education, repeated changes of ministers of education, endless reforms, all this was the basis of initiating this conflict.
- Politicians who mentioned education only during election campaigns to attract votes, wage injustice has been going on for at least 20 years. In 1997, when the teachers’ status was voted on, until 2003, when legal proceedings against the Romanian state began, teachers’ salaries were illegally cut by 35% every month. Think about how many millions were unfairly taken out of teachers’ pockets, where did this money go? Obviously, in the pockets of the political clientele. The High Court of Cassation and Justice in 2004 with its decision 13 demonstrated the qualified theft practiced by the state regarding teachers’ salaries,” said Adrian Vojka, according to News.ro.
He also clarified that the 2008 law, according to which teachers’ salaries were increased by 50%, is not being implemented either.
- “The fault is not ours. In this situation, the government is to blame, and parents’ and students’ associations should put pressure on the prime minister’s office every day, asking how much longer they will abuse our children,” the trade union leader also said.
On Thursday, the government met in what Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke called an “emergency” meeting to approve the GEO, which was supposed to ease the situation in the education system.
