More than 2,500 girls ages 11 to 14 became mothers in 2021, more than triple the number in 2020, according to census data released by the INS.
This puts us in an ungrateful position in Europe – about half of the girl mothers in Europe come from Romania. And this is not taking into account the abortions that take place.
Below is the number of mothers under 20 according to the 2022 census
If we look at the situation by county, the most “children of children” are born in Bucharest, Suceava, Iasi and Ilfov continue to lead the way. However, the data can be misleading because the population in these counties is also very large.
So, we divided the number of mothers aged 11-14 by the total female population aged 11-14 in the counties of Romania. And the rating changed dramatically. Most of the girl mothers (as a proportion of the female population in the same age group) are from Sibiu. Next on the list are Olt, Mehedyntsi, Kovasna and Ilfov.
