Diane Parry was eliminated from Mirra Andreeva at Roland Garros
After qualifying for the main draw, Andreeva beat the American Alison Riske-Amritage (85 WTA) in the first round with a score of 6-2, 6-1.
Despite being ranked only 143rd in the world, Mirra Andreeva also won in the second round, this time ahead of France’s Diane Parry (79 WTA), also after two decisive sets, 6-1, 6-2.
In the third round, the Russian will meet the winner Yulia Grabher (61 WTA) and the sixth favorite Coco Gauff (6 WTA).
The possibility of a match against the American Coco Gauff worries Andreeva, as she stated at the end of the match with Parry.
“I thought I would play in the juniors, but now I’m in the main draw and already in the third round. I am very happy.
I’m happy that it doesn’t show that I’m emotional. I was a bit unsure today because I was playing against a player from France, the crowd was supporting her, but I’m glad I focused on my game.
Coco Gauff is already an experienced player, although she is also young, I think she is 18 years old. I’m sure it will be a great match. She will do her best, and I will do everything in my power,” Mirra Andreeva is quoted as saying by France24.

Andreeva already has 26 wins this year and has won two ITF W60 tournaments in Switzerland: she won in Chiasso (where she also beat Oleksandra Kadants-Ignatic) and in Bellinzona.
The player from Russia has only three defeats in 2023: against Alina Korneeva (Australian Open – junior final), Aryna Sabalenko (WTA Madrid – round of 16) and Camilla Rakhimova (Paris Challenger – round of 16).
The Roland Garros tournament takes place from May 28 to June 11, has a total prize pool of 49.6 million euros, and is the 127th tournament. Iga Sviatek and Rafael Nadal (14-time winner in Paris) became the champions of the title.
