Iryna Begu reached the second round of the Roland Garros tournament. The Romanian defeated the Hungarian Anna Bondar in two sets, the score 6-4, 6-2.

The 27th favorite of Roland Garros Iryna Begu (27 WTA) reached the second round in Paris.

The athlete from Romania defeated Anna Bondar (103 WTA) in two sets, at the end of Irina’s successful match.

Begu made a great comeback in the first set from 4-2 down, managing to close out the set 6-4, and she continued her good performance in the second set.

It took Irina Begu an hour and 40 minutes to reach the second round, where she will face Sara Errani (70 WTA), a finalist at Roland Garros 2012.

The Italian beat Jill Teichmann (75 WTA) in the first round in 3 sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Thanks to the success in the first round, Iryna Begu will receive 97,000 euros and 70 points in the WTA singles ranking.

The Roland Garros tournament takes place from May 28 to June 11, has a total prize pool of 49.6 million euros, and is the 127th tournament. Iga Sviatek and Rafael Nadal (14-time winner in Paris) became the champions of the title.
