Erdogan, who has been in power for 20 years, delivered his victory speech before the official announcement of the vote results.

Addressing his supporters in Istanbul, he thanked “every member of the nation who has once again entrusted us with the responsibility of governing Turkey for the next five years” and for the “celebration of democracy” during the presidential election.

“If it is God’s will, we will be worthy of your trust, as we have been for the past 21 years,” the president said, according to the BBC and Al Jazeera.

He also declared that all 85 million citizens of the country are “winners” of the two rounds of elections on May 14 and 28.
