
A Tax officer was arrested on charges of promising to reduce debts to individuals – with compensation – citing connections. As it became known, this is a 64-year-old employee of the DOW – Taxation of Anonymous Companies (FAE) Thessaloniki.
His arrest was made after the operation carried out by her. Deputy Director of Internal Affairs of the Security Forces of Northern Greece. There was a complaint from a private individual, after which the banknotes were marked, and when they were handed over to the tax official, “corrupt officials” intervened and arrested him.
With him a private individual was also arrestedreportedly the owner of a coffee shop. He is suspected of complicity with a tax official and a person who allegedly had relevant connections in order to effectively “cut off” the debts of persons addressed to them. Both were submitted for ad hoc trial to the three-member Court of Appeal of Thessaloniki. In particular, they were charged with trading in influence together and organizing the commission of an offense.
From what was known their alleged action began at least as early as July 2022 while there are other complaints against them that are expected to be related to the above case. The case file shows that their illegal benefits, depending on the case, ranged from 2,500 to 7,000 euros.
