Foreign tourists and especially those arriving from third countries and making duty-free purchases are sent “Department Stores of Attica” with its new branded store Choice of Atticawhich began operating in Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”. Moreover, already in the first quarter of 2023, the company is recording a significant increase in sales of the company without tax, by 52%, compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, gradually recovering from the significant decline that they noted in the previous three years due to the pandemic and mainly from – for the lack of Chinese tourists until last year. However, after a lack of Chinese tourists returning this year, some of the losses have been offset by large purchases made by American and Arab tourists, according to official figures.
The new 400 sq.m store is located at the departure level of Spata Airport and offers a wide range of designer brands of clothing, accessories and travel products for women and men, such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Scotch & Soda. , Karl Lagerfeld, Longchamp, Marc O’Polo, Happy Socks, Kurt Geiger, Zadig & Voltaire and many more. It is noted that the company operates two more small stores such as Attica Selections in “closed” markets, namely the Sani Resort hotel in Chalkidiki and Navarino Dunes (on the Costa Navarino).
Aside from tax-free sales, which are currently on the rise but have yet to reach 2019 levels, the company as a whole has started 2023 on a strong growth footing, with sales “increasing” around 25% in the first five months of this year.
A pace that, if continued and increased during the peak tourist season, is expected to lead to a turnover that will reach 200 million euros in 2023, compared to around 180 million euros that were estimated to have closed in 2022.
The new brand and space additions at Attica’s main department store in City Link also played a decisive role in increasing turnover this year. Following the additions to the 3rd and 4th floors of the building in previous years, the 5th floor extension (2000 sq.m.) was recently commissioned and the 2nd floor extension with new premises is underway and is expected to be completed next autumn.
The next investment in Attica’s department stores is expected in Elliniko, where the company has already signed a preliminary agreement to build a large 12,000 sqm department store. in a shopping center that will be developed from Vouliagmenis Mall, while he plans to develop a much smaller store in Riviera Galleria (in a luxury shopping complex that will be developed in Elliniko), as well as branded stores (mono-brands).
The company is also developing its online store to further enhance the apparel and footwear categories that will be sold through it.
