Since its inception a few years earlier, EPZ has not stopped causing controversy. And it is not for nothing that motorists do not really adhere to this measure, rightly recognized as discriminatory. Its sole purpose is to prevent too old cars from entering big cities. And for this, this system is based on one criterion: date of first registration, not actual emissions. From 2025, everyone cities with a population of more than 150,000 must become ZEP. An event that neither some elected officials nor interested drivers like. To calm the discontent somewhat, the Senate decided to launch a large-scale consultation to gather the views of the main stakeholders. And the latter answered those present, but not in the way the government would like. Indeed, Philippe Tabaro, senator of Les Républicains des Alpes-Maritimes, has just released the results, and they are in fact more than consensual. In fact, 86% of voters are against the VZ, especially individuals. 69% are even categorically against it.

Indeed, only 16% of the French “believe they have satisfactory alternative solutions”. And among them, 67% say that they are in favor of the generalization of EPZs in France. Be that as it may, most respondents are familiar with the principle of operation of this system and are fully aware of how it works. But the majority does not approve of this.
