Iran today unveiled its fourth-generation Khorramshahr ballistic missile, dubbed Khaibar and it has a range of 2000 kilometers and a head weighing 1,500 kilograms, the official IRNA news agency reported today.
Iran continues to develop its missile program, despite the opposition of the United States and the concerns of European countries. Tehran claims that the program is purely defensive and deterrent.
“Iran’s latest ballistic missile and the latest product of the Defense Ministry’s Aerospace Industries Organization were unveiled today at a ceremony attended by the defense minister,” IRNA reported.
It is noted that in November last year, the semi-official news agency Tasnim reported that the country built a hypersonic ballistic missilewith reference to the commander of the aerospace forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
“This rocket has a high speed and can maneuver in and out of the atmosphere. It will target the adversary’s advanced anti-missile systems and is a big leap forward in missiles,” Commander Amir Ali Hajizade was quoted as saying, which could heighten concerns about Iran’s missile capabilities.
