
Lenovo, which has 300 employees in Romania and also owns a research center, has 23% of the local PC market. The four companies have three-quarters of the market, which reached an all-time high in 2021 when the pandemic boosted sales.
Lenovo representatives presented IDC data on the Romanian PC market. Lenovo had 23.3% in the fiscal year ending March 2023, Asus 21.4%, HP 20.2% and Dell 10.5%.
Lenovo officials say the total PC market will exceed one million units in 2021, an extremely successful year, while there was a slight decline last year. Laptops occupy three quarters of the total market, and desktops – about 25%.
Compared to three years ago, the market has changed: yes, in the 2019-2020 fiscal year, Lenovo had 27.3%, Asus – 18.8%, HP – 21.9%, Dell – 14.2%.
In the tablet market, IDC data shows Samsung has 23.3%, Lenovo has 21.5% and Apple has 21.4% for the period from April 2022 to March 2023. Rounding out the top five are Allview and Xiaomi, each of which has almost 8% of the market.
Lenovo has approximately 300 employees in Romania, and last year their number increased by 100 people. Half of the employees work in the research and development center in Bucharest, which also has a data center.
