It is about unscrupulous drivers and, above all, about complete illegality, who make detours or simply overcharge customers to make them pay as much as possible. To attract them, they wait for their victims as soon as they leave the airport and simply offer to drive them to their destination like a real taxi. Except it’s obviously completely illegal.

A huge operation

This practice is scourge for tourists but also for real professionals who also suffer from it, as well as their reputation. Therefore, control work is carried out regularly. The latest dates back to just a few days ago and was carried out in Paris by the Boers, who are none other than the taxi police. This Friday, May 19, the latter invested in Roissy and Orly airports to track down illegal taxis in a massive operation.

Indeed, according to Commissioner Jean-Sébastien Rosadonny, responsible for the initiative, the number of offenses involving underground taxis has increased by 30%.
