
OUR Ray Stevensonwho has appeared in major TV series such as Rome, Vikings and Dexter has died at the age of 58.
The news of the death was confirmed to the BBC by U.S. public relations company Viewpoint, which did not elaborate. The cause of death was not disclosed, but it is known that Stevenson was hospitalized while filming an action movie on the Italian island of Ischia.
The actor is also known for his roles in the Thor films and the TV series Divergent. He has also appeared in several British television productions such as The Golden Bracelet, The Practice of Spades and Murphy’s Law.
His death was announced four days before his 59th birthday.
Stevenson was born in Northern Ireland but moved to the UK when he was eight years old. At the time of his birth in 1964, his father was in the Royal Air Force near Lisburn.
His family moved to Newcastle and little Ray spent most of his childhood in the UK.
Stevenson decided to become an actor when he saw John Malkovich in a play in London’s West End.
He studied acting at the Old Vic Theater School in Bristol and one of his first television roles was in Catherine Cookson’s drama series The Residence. He then appeared in a large number of British television series including Dalziel and Pascoe and At Home with the Braithwaites.
In 2004, he played a knight in the big-budget Hollywood film King Arthur, starring Keira Knightley.
More recently, he has landed roles in popular American films and TV series such as Folstagg in the Thor trilogy and Titus in the HBO historical drama series Rome.
His next role was as Bailan Scholl in the upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars: Ashoka.
