Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke said on Tuesday morning, on the second day of a general strike in education, that he could not meet union demands because they were “very difficult to meet” at the moment, citing the loss of European funding along with wage increases. which will deepen the budget deficit.
The Prime Minister of Romania claims that the salary increase will lead to a deepening of the budget deficit and this will lead to the loss of European funds, but he did not explain specifically how this will be achieved, notes edupedu.
- “I understand the problems of the teaching and support staff, we also treat them equally and will make sure that they are solved, but the other issues that we discussed at the meeting with the trade unions are absolutely very, very difficult. perform at the moment under conditions in which, and once again I urge, we must understand that Romania, so that it can continue to benefit from European funds, and without European funds we must admit that we would not have arrived here, without the European funds, we cannot fulfill our development goals, restore disparities in comparison with other European countries.
- And we said that we have a deficit target that we have to meet, we can’t increase spending at this point because absolutely any kind of spending affects the deficit, and when we lose control of the deficit, it becomes clear that we are no longer achieving our goals and we are entering a different paradigm that I don’t know who will control,” Chuke said.
Nicolae Chuke took part on Tuesday morning in the ceremony of signing financial contracts aimed at supporting the national system of research and development by attracting highly specialized human resources from abroad, including from the scientific diaspora.
Chuke said he would meet with parent-student associations on Tuesday and that he would “continue the dialogue” to resolve the issue, although there were no meetings with unions on Monday, with messages being shared only in the public space. In the official agenda, the meeting is scheduled for 11 o’clock.
- “It is quite clear to all of us that we cannot see our teachers anywhere except in the classroom, and our children, pupils or students – in amphitheatres. I don’t think now is the time to solve problems by blocking the school year.
- That is why I am personally committed to this, I also spoke with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Marcel Čolaku, today we will continue the dialogue, we will have meetings with the parents’ association, the students’ association and we will do it in such a way that, based on the dialogue, we will solve the problem by doing more. I also call on union leaders and teachers to understand the measures we have taken,” Chuke said.
The prime minister said he did not want to hand over his mandate “with problems”, citing the fact that it would be unfair to the current coalition, which took over the government in a particularly difficult situation.
“Of course, I am coming to the end of my mandate, it would not be fair, honest or principled to hand over a mandate that has problems, to have, however there are problems, any acceptance of a mandate automatically implies acceptance of a problem, no two situations not decided and we manage it, we come to the government to solve problems, but again I could not do such a thing because it does not seem to me, as I said, neither principled nor fair and it is an issue that has continuity in the coalition that took over management in a particularly difficult situation for our country,” Chuke also stated.
The Liberals want the government’s rotation calendar to stick, and Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke will present his mandate on May 26.
What salaries are offered by trade unions for teachers: how much should a newbie get, how much should a graduate get
The president of the Federation of Education Trade Unions “Spiru Haret” Marius Nistor states that beginning teachers should have a salary equivalent to the average salary in the economy, while the net salary of a teacher at the end of his career should reach almost 7,000 lei every month.
Answering a question on Sunday evening on B1 TV, what is the salary of education workers, Marius Nistor gave specific examples: a maximum of 2,000 lei for non-teaching staff (nurses, cooks, nurses, firefighters), 2,580 lei for the salary of a debutante teacher, to which an allowance is added for meals, reaching approximately 2,700 lei, almost 3,800 lei for a teacher with a teaching degree I and 25 years of experience, and 4,200 – 4,500 lei net for a late-career teacher.
“When the tariff plan was discussed at the level of the Ministry of Education, we started from the point of reference: the salary of a novice with a higher education should be equivalent to the average salary in the economy. What does this mean in pure numbers for a newbie? This will reach almost 4000 lei net from 2500-2700 lei. This will be the starting salary. And, categorically, you are coming to the end of your career, there is progressive growth, colleagues who would leave the system would reach somewhere around 6,900-7,000 lei in net salary. These are the salaries,” said Marius Nistor, answering questions about what teachers’ salaries will be.
