Emigrants vote: Turnout in Cyprus exceeded 90%

With participation rates exceeding 90% in the Greek elections, voting in the May 21 elections ended in Cyprus on Saturday.

Voters came to five polling stations in Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos from 07:00 to 19:00.

Of the 1,462 people registered in the special voter lists, 1,340 people voted, which is 91.6%.

In particular, 397 out of 438 voters voted in the first constituency of Nicosia. In the second electoral district of Nicosia, 438 out of 474 voted for them.

In Limassol, out of 255 registered, 227 voted. While in Larnaca, out of 212, 198 voted.

Finally, in Paphos, 80 of the 83 registered voted for the Greek elections.

Antonis Salapatas, the Greek judiciary’s appellate representative in charge of the polling stations in Limassol and Paphos, in his statements to the Cyprus News Agency, said that the polling stations functioned normally and there were no problems with the materials sent from Greece.

When asked about this, Mr. Salapatas noted that the selection will take place in the Court of Appeal of Athens. “We will pick up the ballot bags and the sorting will take place at the Athens Court of Appeal,” he said.
