Strong expected this year concert summer V Athenawith international names spanning different musical tastes and age groups, from jazz legend Herbie Hancock to Herodius pop star Robbie Williams (1.7) in Terra Vibe Parkand from Andrea Bocelli at the Olympic Stadium (18.7) to Florence + Machine (2.7) at blowout festival and Arctic Monkeys (18-19.7) at Release Athens on Nehru Square – the last two make a dynamic comeback in their careers.

Besides the joy of the music and the charm of the star artists who will meet – even if they are a little old – the Greek public, the fact that in Irodeo we will hear more than classical music and jazz as part of the Athens Epidaurian Festival is also important.

We have already mentioned the pianist and composer Herbie Hancock, a figure of modern music, who, despite his 83 years, will visit our country (11.7), having a great fifty-year career behind him. Gilberto Gil (17.7) is also a legend who creatively mixed jazz with Brazilian rhythms to create a new sound. Third in the jazz group, the great filmmaker but also a persistent clarinetist, Woody Allen, will perform at Herodium in October with his orchestra.

In the old conservatory, thanks to Athens – Epidaurian Festival, also features two very popular Greek bands: Scottish lyric rockers Waterboys (22.6) and Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Ros (27.6), while John Cale and his band (19.6) and Alexandre Depless (1 ,7), one of the most important contemporary film score composers with multiple awards including two Oscars and two Grammys. Finally, those who remember them as the pioneers of electronic music in the 70s will surely appreciate the concert of the historical Düsseldorf band Kraftwerk.

However, classical music lovers will also sit on the stone stands of the theatre, which nevertheless has a unique atmosphere, to listen to the violinist Ann-Zofia Mutter (12.6). They will also attend the opera Madama Butterfly directed by the experienced and always different Olivier Pi (from 1.7) and the podium star Theodoros Currentzis with the international artistic orchestra of Utopia, who will conduct Mahler’s Third Symphony (15.6). .
