Environmental group Greenpeace announced today that it will close its offices in Russia after the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office deemed it “undesirable”.
In a statement posted on Telegram, Greenpeace Russia, Greenpeace Russia’s affiliate, said: “We express our categorical disagreement with the decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office. This decision makes any activity of Greenpeace in Russia illegal. Therefore, the Russian branch of Greenpeace is forced to close.”

Earlier today, the Russian judiciary declared the environmental organization “undesirable”, thereby banning its activities in the country.
In a statement, the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office emphasizes that Greenpeace International, based in the Netherlands, poses a “threat to the foundations of the constitutional order and security” of Russia and seeks to “overthrow the government in an unconstitutional way.” .
