The ITIA (International Tennis Integrity Agency) issued a press release on Friday accusing Simona Halep of irregularities in her Biological Passport (ABP). Shortly after, the former WTA number 1 hit back in a clear way, saying she felt helpless as three world-renowned experts determined her blood would be completely normal.

After the ITIA issued a press release stating that there were irregularities in the Athlete’s Biological Passport (ABP), Simona Halep reacted on social media.

“Since October 7, since I was accused by the ITIA of doping, I have experienced the biggest nightmare of my life. Not only has my name been tarnished in the worst possible way, I am faced with a constant determination on the part of the ITIA, for some reason beyond my understanding, to prove my guilt, even though I at least never thought of turning to any banned substance.

I tried twice to be tried by an independent tribunal, but ITIA kept finding reasons to put it off. Now that I had clearly identified that I had become a victim of contamination, (no, the ITIA staff) came up with the so-called abnormal evolution of my blood.

Three world-renowned experts who examined my blood tests gave the ultimate clarity and determined that my blood was completely normal.

I feel helpless in the face of such harassment and feel that they want to find me guilty of something I never did. Again, all my life I have been adamantly against any kind of deception, it is not in line with my values.

The only hope I have now is that I will finally be able to get access to independent and impartial judges in a court of law who will give me a chance to prove my innocence.

I have full faith in the court system and look forward to finally being able to plead my case at the end of the month deadline after several delays caused by the ITIA.
