Veronika Kudermetova says that the linesman is “very old”

When she was leading 3-0 in the deciding set against Qinwen Zheng (WTA 21), Kudermetova thought the Chinese player’s serve had gone out.

The chair umpire went down to check the mark but was unable to identify it and called for the linesman to indicate where he saw the ball land (on the line).

Worried about the decision, Veronica asked the linesman for an explanation and told him that she couldn’t trust the linesman because he was “very old”.

β€œIt’s your fault, right? Who will do this? I mean, if I’m wrong, you’re going to give me a fine or something… It’s a joke. He is very old. I mean, who is going to pay for this mistake?” – Veronika Kudermetova.

In the end, the athlete from Russia won with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and in the penultimate act of the competition at the Foro Italico she will meet with the Ukrainian Angelina Kalinina (47 WTA).
