Increased by 13.3% in April 2023 compared to the same month in 2019, passenger traffic in 14 regional airports managed by Fraport Greece. In particular, the number victims of human trafficking in the 14 largest airports in the region, it amounted to 1.6 million, with Aktion airport showing the largest percentage change (44.2%). At Skiathos Airport, the number of passengers increased by 43.1%, to 3.9 thousand people, and in Rhodes, passenger traffic increased by 38.6%, to 317.8 thousand travelers. Zakynthos (30.2%), Corfu (15.2%) and Chania (13.6%) airports recorded a double-digit increase in visitors in April 2023 compared to the same month in 2019.

On the contrary, traffic decreased in April compared to the same month in 2019, when there was no impact due to the pandemic crisis, in Kefalonia (-21.2%), as well as in Mykonos, where the number of visitors who traveled from airplane on the island of Anemon decreased by 16.3%, to 50.5 thousand. At the airport “Macedonia” passenger traffic increased by 9.4%, to 572.8 thousand people. Overall, passenger traffic increased by 16.1% in April 2023 compared to last year.

On an annualized basis, in the first quarter of 2023, the number of passengers at 14 regional airports increased by 29.3% to 3.5 million people. Thessaloniki Airport leads the growth (39%), with 1.7 million visitors, with Rhodes (34.6%) and Skiathos (33.9%) showing the highest percentage growth.

At Mykonos Airport, passenger traffic also fell in the first four months compared to the corresponding period in 2022 by 1.2%, to 78.6 thousand people, while in Aktion the number of passengers decreased by 40.5% over the same period. up to about 13 thousand.

What does a comparison of the first four months of 2023 with the same period of 2019 show? The number of visitors to the 14 regional airports increased by 4.7% to 3.5 million, with Skiathos Airport leading the way with 41.3%. In Thessaloniki, the passenger traffic in the first four months of the year, compared to the corresponding period in 2019, remained constant at 1.7 million people, while in Mykonos, passenger traffic decreased by 7.5% over the same period.
