Hidroelectrica announced on Tuesday that it is canceling the replacement of the parking lot, namely the lease of more than 200 SUVs, limousines and station wagons, which are covered by the provisions of the Savings Decree, which prohibits, with some exceptions, the purchase, lease or rental of state cars.
Hidroelectrica, Romania’s largest power producer, warns that the auction, which has now been cancelled, was intended to replace the vehicle fleet that the company owns as a result of a similar type of contract (operating lease) in 2019, a commercial deal that is to meet the January 6 deadline 2024 year.
- “Practically after the specified date, all vehicles currently used by the company will leave its portfolio due to the actual expiration of the contract – the document that provides for the return of the goods,” the company warns.
Below is Hidroelectrica’s announcement:
- “In the conditions of entry into force on May 15 of this year GEO No. 34/2023 regarding some fiscal and budgetary measures, the extension of some terms, as well as for the amendment and completion of some regulatory acts, Hidroelectrica cancels the procedure for the purchase of 203 sedans and station wagons, respectively SUVs, for operational leasing.
- Launched in the public procurement system on May 13, the auction – currently cancelled, is aimed at replacing the fleet owned by the company after concluding in 2019 a contract of the same type (operating lease), a commercial agreement, which should reach the deadline of January 6, 2024.
- Practically after the specified date, all the equipment currently used by the company will leave its portfolio due to the actual expiration of the contract, the document that provides for the return of the goods.
- We clearly explain that Hidroelectrica has been using this type of service since 2014 to insure the company’s fleet, thus the cars received were Dacia Duster for the first contract (performed in 2014-2019), respectively Suzuki SX4 and S-Cross for the second one (performed between 2019 and January 2024).
- The vehicles required by the specifications associated with the third potential operating lease also had minimum equipment and engine conditions (most between 1000-1600cc, petrol) and the offer price to be submitted included compulsory insurance and CASCO, service for the entire period, as well as summer and winter tires.
- The cancellation of the public procurement procedure will have a serious impact on Hidroelectrica in the near future, given that the company does not own any other machinery, and the activities carried out at the company level involve the transfer of workers to the hydroelectric plant, investment purposes and work carried out on construction sites, etc.
- We also emphasize that most of the company’s hydropower facilities are located in mountainous areas, and current actions include, among other things, intervention in hard-to-reach places, constant supervision of the behavior of structures, the condition of dams and crowns of dams, as well as the movement of company specialists between interesting areas depending on needs. In addition, Hidroelectrica’s activities include, among other things, access to mountainous areas, as well as the use of forest roads throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions.
- We emphasize that Hidroelectrica started the internal procedure of analyzing and establishing the need for machines, namely the drawing up of specifications, back in February this year, and the public procurement started on May 13, 2023, the company takes into account as legal the time required to carry out the procedure, as well as the time required to manufacture and delivery of vehicles in the requested quantity before or after the expiration of the current operational leasing agreement.
- At the moment, Hidroelectrica is analyzing possible solutions to meet the company’s vehicle needs, so that the company’s operations will not be affected after the expiration of the operational leasing contract.
- We remind you that Hidroelectrica is the largest producer of green energy in Romania and the main provider of technological services necessary for the National Energy System, being a vital company for a strategic sector with implications for national security. The company manages several 187 power plants, hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 6.3 GW. The Crucea wind farm with an installed capacity of 108 MW is added to them. – says the company.
