New Tesla Gigafactory in France Coming Soon? Today, it is hard to imagine an American firm opening a new factory in Europe after the one in Berlin. However, American billionaire Elon Musk told himself on Monday “sure that Tesla will make significant investments in France in the future”on the sidelines of the “Choose France” summit in the Palace of Versailles.

I am very impressed with the welcome to the industry from President Macron and the French government“, the boss of Tesla, Twitter and Space X told reporters at the end of a conversation with French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire.

Tesla-only visit?

With Elon Musk, each of whom knows the portfolio of activities, which is very broad, we continue discussions“, – said Bruno Le Maire. And this sentence is not so trivial, since Perhaps Elon Musk went to France not only for Tesla, but also for other types of activities. But for now, we won’t know more. “It is better to keep the content of these discussions a secret for the time being “and that”they remain confidential“, the minister said.

With investments such as those totaling €13 billion announced during the sixth edition of Choose France, ” there are months and months of negotiations“, explained Bruno Le Maire. This is a battle where no one is giving gifts to attract investment at home, jobs at home, technology at home.“, he noted.

Several battery factories are coming to France

It will be recalled that last week Emmanuel Macron went to the north of France to publicize his strategy for the reindustrialization of France. In particular, we learned that the fourth battery factory is planned to be created in France together with the Taiwanese company ProLogium.

ProLogium plans to invest 5.2 billion euros in Dunkirk by 2030 to reach an annual production capacity of 48 GWh, enough to supply several hundred thousand cars. The group hopes to start production in late 2026 and increase capacity over several years, thus creating 3,000 factory jobs and 12,000 indirect jobs on site.

Three other “gigafactory” projects have already been announced: in Douvrin (which is scheduled to open at the end of May), in Douai and in Dunkirk with the French startup Verkor.
