Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014 and updated in 2019, the Lamborghini Huracan was a huge success. Over 20,000 copies were sold in 10 years of existence. But all good things come to an end, and it’s time for the iconic athletic bend. The brand has just presented the latest developments to date of its Tecnica model and the Sterrato, a “crossover” version, but order books for these versions are already full. That is why the manufacturer has stopped accepting new orders, he said during the presentation of the annual results. Therefore, it is no longer possible to order a Huracan.

Completed career

Released in 2014 to replace the Gallardo, Huracan has gone through several evolutions. First introduced in the 610-4 coupe version with a 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces 610 horsepower thanks to all-wheel drive, it will soon be joined by its roadster variant. And many versions will replenish the catalog throughout his career. Sometimes less powerful like the 580-2 (580bhp, two-wheel drive), sometimes much crazier like the STO (Super Trofeo Omologata), a track-built but road-homologated racing version with 640bhp serving single rears wheels

STO, Sterrato, Tecnica

The newest options to date are the Tecnica, introduced in 2020, and the Sterrato, which received its Sesame to begin production in November 2020. The first takes over 640 hp. and the rear-wheel drive STO, in more subdued guise, but still excellent. The second is a version with increased ground clearance and a body covered with additional protections (and even railings!), which gives the appearance of an all-terrain vehicle. This is undoubtedly the most amazing version of the Huracan, which lives up to the concept of the same name introduced in 2019. Only 1,499 copies will be produced, all sold.

A place for hybridization

The end of marketing The Huracan is also the death knell for the V10 engine without electrical assistance. A replacement must be provided quicklyagain this year or even in 2024. It will use a new plug-in hybrid engine, as already confirmed by Reuven Mohr, technical director of the brand in the British media Auto Express. That engine will have “6 to 12 cylinders,” likely a V10 or even a V8, complemented by an electric unit that promises powers were revised mainly in the direction of increase. Enough to allow the Italian sports car to match its compatriot, the Ferrari 296 GTB, which puts out a whopping 830 horsepower thanks to its V6, which is also a battery hybrid.
