FCSB and CFR Cluj meet in a match in which each of the two teams plays their last chance for the title, in the case of the hosts, and for the European Cups, in the case of the visitors, respectively.

FCSB are in 2nd place with 43 points and need a win to stay in touch with leaders Farul Konstanz, on whose base they will pass the next stage for the match that could decide the champion.

Elias Charalambous’ side have won three of their last four play-off games, the last in the preliminary stage, also at the National Arena, with a 3-1 win against Sepsi.

In addition, FCSB are coming off a six-game unbeaten run at home (four wins and two draws), while they beat Farul Konstanz and Sepsi in the capital in the play-offs, while they drew with Craiova University.

“We have another difficult match, for me it will be the most difficult match. We know that we will meet the champion of the past years, so we understand how difficult it will be. If we don’t do everything right in this match, everything we achieved in the previous stages will be forgotten. CFR Cluj is a great team with quality players,” said Elias Haralambous.

CFR Cluj has 39 points and is fighting with Universitatea Craiova for the 3rd place, which allows to play with the winner of the match between FC U Craiova and FC Voluntari for a place in the Conference League (the 4th place gives such a chance only if U Cluj, a team without a European license, wins the Romanian Cup final with Sepsi).

Transylvania came after a disastrous run of four matches without a win, three in the play-offs, 0-1 with Farul Constanta (d), 1-3 with Rapid (d) and 1-1 with the University of Craiova (a), and one in the semi-finals Romanian Cup, eliminated after 0-3 with Sepsi (d).

In fact, CFR Cluj has won seven playoff matches, 2-1 at home against Sepsi (drawn four times and lost twice).

In these conditions, Dan Petrescu is thinking of leaving CFR Cluj, a big obstacle is the termination clause of €400,000 to be paid by the terminating party.

“He may have a very good offer that he will find very difficult to refuse. He remains the same valuable coach. This is a warning, there are teams that have this money, 400,000 euros,” said the president of CFR Cluj, Kristi Balaj.

The two teams split their regular season wins, each winning at home, CFR Cluj at the National Arena 1-0 on December 15, 2022 (Janga 69) and FCSB in Cluj-Napoca on February 5, 2023 by 1: 0 (Ejuma, 88), while they drew 1-1 in the play-off round match at Ardeal on 9 April 2023 (Birlighea, 19 respectively, Fl Coman, 68).

Superbet offers odds of 1.65 on the PsF1 prediction: the home team will lead at half-time or prevail at the end of the FCSB – CFR Cluj match.
