The third favorite to win the tournament, Jacqueline Christian, also played in the semifinals on Saturday and defeated France’s Carole Monnet (203 WTA) in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
Thanks to the triumph in Zagreb, the Romanian makes an important leap in the WTA hierarchy, reaching 133rd place in the live WTA ranking.
