Tesla Motors will recall 1.1 million vehicles manufactured between 2019 and now due to a possible defect related to the accelerator pedal. The action was initiated by the Chinese authorities.
The recall includes vehicles such as the Model S, Model X and Model 3 manufactured between January 2019 and April 2023, according to a statement from China’s State Administration of Market Regulation (SAMR).
The problem is a potential brake and acceleration defect that could lead to accidents.
Due to the defect, there is a risk that the accelerator pedal will be pressed too hard, which could predictably lead to collisions.
Patches will be applied via over-the-air software updates.
Tesla was also forced to recall in China. For example, in November 2022, 80,000 cars were recalled, some with potential software problems and others with possible seat belt problems.
