The tablet market recorded another significant decline in the first quarter of the year, taking it to a low level not recorded in more than three years.
According to Canalys analysis, 31.7 million tablets were shipped in the first quarter of this year. This figure is 18% less compared to the same period last year. This is the lowest level recorded in this market since the first quarter of 2020.
Apart from the expected drop after the winter holidays, analysts said it was larger than expected, even in the current economic context. Tablets belong to the devices, the purchase of which people give a very low priority during this period.
All major manufacturers are down. Apple remains the leader after falling 17%. With 12.35 million iPads shipped, Apple now has 38.9% of the market.
Although it fell less, at 14.4%, Samsung remains far behind Apple, with a share of 21.2%, having sold 6.72 million tablets.
Amazon is down nearly 30%, Lenovo is down 37%, and Huawei, which has already lost much of its share in recent years, continues to fall another 4.3%.
There’s a new old player in the tablet market in Google, which just unveiled the Pixel tablet. A few years ago, Google stopped producing tablets, then changed its mind and decided to return to this market. (News.ro)
