Unidentified persons painted the New Democracy party’s polling booth outside the municipal theater of Mytilene, and offensive slogans were written in the central districts of the capital Lesvos.

It is noted that on Friday, May 12, Prime Minister and President of the “New Democracy” Kyriakos Mitsotakis will visit Mytilene as part of the election tour. However, local factors have also linked the incident to Wednesday’s student elections.

In a statement, the party’s local organization condemns the event and states: “Last night, after the triumphant victory of DAP-NDFK Mytilini and ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Prime Minister and President of our party Kyriakos Mitsotakis, acts of vandalism were committed by impudent thugs. the voting booth of our party, which is located on the embankment of our city. They should be well aware that these actions do not frighten anyone and do not frighten anyone.

The statement adds that “as long as the advocates of conflict and programmatic poverty turn a blind eye to bandits, we will steadfastly and steadily follow the path of political culture, dialogue and comparison of deeds, programs and ideas with an eye to tomorrow.”

In addition to vandalism at the polling station, offensive slogans against the prime minister were also written in the central places of Mytilene.
