This will be our gift on behalf of the Australian people to King Charles III in honor of his coronation.
This will bring national and international attention to the conservation of the western ground parrot.

Paul Wettin, head of Friends of the Western Ground Parrot, which will receive the money, said the prime minister’s announcement “came out of the blue.”
Until recently, the parrot was found on the entire southern coast of the peninsula of Western Australia, from Esperance to Perth, but today, its population has drastically declined, with fewer than 150 people living in Cape Arid National Park.in a remote corner of southeastern Western Australia.
According to experts, the increase in the number of feral cats as an unintended result of massive fox hunting in the 1990s contributed to a sharp decline in the number of this bird, which has a special symbolic meaning for the Noongar indigenous peoples, who know it as a kiloring.
In addition, devastating fires that destroy forests make parrots easy prey for wild cats and foxes that cannot hide in foliage and bushes.
