PSD President Marcel Cholaku said that he is convinced that by June 1 there will be a rotation of the government and he will become the prime minister. Čolaku made it clear that he did not want Florin Kitsu in the new executive power, and emphasized that it is not good to talk about changing some ministers a month before, because it would block the activities in the relevant ministries, writes News.ro. He also announced that he would like Mihai Tudose as a minister and praised Sorin Grindeana, “one of the most effective ministers in the current government”.
“We don’t have a fixed date, I firmly believe that by June 1 this rotation will be done. It’s a political decision,” Marcel Ciolacu told Antena 3 on Monday night when asked when he would become Romania’s prime minister.
Answering the question whether the first measure as prime minister will be capital taxation, Çolaku explained that the Ministry of Finance belongs to the PNL.
“I am not embarrassed that the future Minister of Finance… According to the protocol, the Ministry of Finance belongs to PNL. Until there is another decision, I refer to the estimated calendar and the protocol agreed between the parties,” Çolaku replied.
Also, when asked whether Florin Kitsu could become the future Minister of Finance, the PSD leader replied that “sometimes we have accidental statesmen.”
“Are we going back to the way things were? Everyone took this coalition seriously. It happens that we also have occasional statesmen. We currently have a protocol in place and are following it. The final decision will be taken after the leaders’ discussion,” said Marcel Cholaku.
Regarding the current Prime Minister Nikolae Chuke, Marcel Cholaku says that he has not yet decided whether he will remain in the future government.
“He has not made a decision, I assume he will make it together with the PNL. It is incorrect to talk about the changes of individual ministers a month before, because the ministry is no longer functioning. First, all the government will fall, there will be a new government. I am waiting for a conversation first of all with the Prime Minister, because he is the first to have the right to evaluate us together. I also have an assessment with the working groups of the party. We no longer make knee-jerk decisions. PSD overcame it…”, emphasized Marcel Cholaku.
In addition, Marcel Cholaku said that he also wants to find former PSD Prime Minister Mihai Tudose in the new government he will lead: “I would like Mihai Tudose, we will see why, we will have a discussion. Mihai Tudose knows the whole picture of the Romanian government, he was the prime minister.”
The leader of the PSD estimated that the Minister of Transport Sorin Grindeanu is one of the most successful ministers of the current cabinet.
“And Mr. Sorin Grindeanu had no doubts, although he was prime minister, to become the minister of transport, from my point of view, one of the most effective ministers of the current government, and I would like to find…”, stated Marcel Cholaku.
