More than 850 UDMR members are participating on Friday and Saturday in Timisoara in the UDMR Congress, where the host Kelemen Hunor had among his guests the Prime Minister Nicolae Čuke and the President of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Čolaka.

“This did not happen in either the PSD or the PNL, let’s be all three,” Çolaku noted. There were polite speeches, applause, sometimes laughter, but serious things were also discussed, for example, a government circular or investments and development of European money. Čolaku also sent some “arrows” to Mayor Dominik Fritz: “You represent the USR, so it’s confirmed that nobody is perfect,” according to News.ro.

Although the Hungarian community in Timisoara is quite small, the municipality was chosen to host the UDMR Congress because “it is an important city for the Hungarian community”. “Furthermore, the infrastructure and the ability to reach the city on the Beg was another factor that was important for the final option. In addition, this year Timisoara is the cultural capital of Europe,” the UDMR reported.

The organization of the Congress is impeccable. Since Hungarian is spoken more, guests receive interpreters right at the entrance. There are big screens on stage.

The event in Timisoara started on Friday with the Conference of local elected representatives of the UDMR, then in the afternoon the work of the Congress began, at the beginning of which the anthem of Romania, the anthem of Hungary, the anthem of Sekel and the European anthem were played. were sung

The presenter was the current leader of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, the only candidate for a new mandate. And, as a hospitable host, he waited for two guests, Marcel Čolaka and Nicolae Chuke, at the entrance to the meeting hall. They arrived immediately, but in separate wagons. They shook hands with Kelemen Gunor, and then they were led to their seats in the hall. Marcel Cholaku sat to the left of Kelemen Hunor, Nikolae Chuke to the right.

Marcel Cholaku was the first to take the stage. He started his speech with “Christ is Risen!”, then managed to hold the audience’s attention with several jokes and “arrows” thrown at Timisoara Mayor Domnik Fritz (USR), who was also present in the hall.

“Last time I was invited to Mures, and after solving the problem with Transylvania, I also came to solve the problem with Banat, if you are interested (…) Indeed, Mr. Mayor, once every four years we held elections to find PSD or PNL , as governed by the UDMR. Look, misfortune, PSD and PNL have united, now you must pray to us. I don’t think anyone expects us to find the culprits, to find the reasons why there was no heat in Timisoara, why no measures were taken, because you see, God, the political formation that represents the mayor is no longer part of the government, so the people of Timisoara must be punished.

This was not done, Mr. Mayor. The prime minister – and I’m telling you because I was a witness – called me and said: Marcel, we have to help Timisoara. No one had any doubts. Those days are gone. Indeed, you represent USR, so it is confirmed that no one is perfect,” said Marcel Cholaku to applause from the audience, while Dominik Fritz seemed more interested in the mobile phone.

Cholaku did not forget to court Kelemen Hunor: “I don’t know how Mr. President Kelemen Hunor always manages to do everything. He managed to make it clear this time too that there was no counter-candidate, and he managed to have both the president of the PSD and the president of the PNL here today. This did not happen in either PSD or PNL, let’s be all three,” said Cholaku, again causing applause and laughter.

At the end, Čolak was greeted by Kelemen Hunor and Nicolae Chuke, shaking hands.

This was followed by a speech by Prime Minister Nikolae Chuke. Like Marcel Cholaku, Chuke began his speech with the greeting “Christ is Risen!”. He then continued on a more serious note. At the end, greetings and handshakes of coalition colleagues rang out.

Immediately after the speech, the two leaders of the PNL and the PSD left the hall where the Congress was meeting, each got into their car and left the same way they had arrived.

But the work of the congress was not finished, other members of the UDMR climbed up to the rostrum one by one, and the hall slowly began to empty. Some members of the UDMR were also interested in the photo zone. The device, which takes pictures every minute, was placed right in front of the building of the Regional Business Center. Applicants sat opposite, with their backs to the panel with the insignia of the UDMR. There were enough customers here too.

The work of the UDMR Congress will continue on Saturday, when the president of the political formation will be elected for the next four years. The current leader Kelemen Hunor is the only candidate for this position, so no big surprises are expected on voting day. (News.ro report)
